Basic Bodybuilding as a Sport

Bodybuilding basics

Bodybuilding Basics: A Body builder's aim is to increase their muscles to their fullest potential or at least to the extent with which the body builder believe is enough, depending on whether they are training for fitness, general exercise or in pursuit of a sport. Those that go through training are more likely to be called "body builders" or "muscle builders".

Therefore, when considering each individuals basic bodybuilding needs, it usually involves a lot of weight lifting and exercising in order to achieve what he or she wants to achieve with regards to the musculature of their bodies.

Bodybuilding basics: It really doesn't matter what gender you are, both men and women can benefit and enjoy the sport. Of course, there are more male body builders compared to female but females are not considered a rare sight in the gym.

Exercise And Weight Training

When considering bodybuilding basics, a bodybuilder needs to go through a lot of exercise and weight training to be able to reach the desired body. There is a need to push that exercise and training in order for the body to grow and to be able to cope with the muscles that will develop as the body builder gains muscles and weight. Exercising helps the cardiovascular system and thus allows the musculature cope with the added strain of lifting weights as well as the additional weight that a bodybuilder will have. A huge body builder will have a difficult time coping with his weight if he is not used to walking around with it.

Thing to know before you start out

Muscle Building

Muscle training is the art of using weight or resistance to build muscles instead of just exercising them. Bodybuilding basics involves a lot of weight lifting and muscle training to be able to build muscle strength. In weight training specifically, the person needs to constantly push themselves in order for the muscles to build. Resistance training is similar to weight training although, weight training gives more freedom of movement, since weight are physically lifted unaided. In resistance training, there is a resisting force such as an elastic band or weights attached to the machine to remove some of the pressure.

The concept with building muscles is that when the body builder uses enough weight to challenge the muscles, the muscles tear or rip. As the torn muscles recover, they become sort of like calluses which now add to the original muscles, making for bigger muscles. As the body builder regularly increases the weight that he or she lifts, the healing and tearing action continues, adding to their muscles. The limit that a person's body has for building muscles is not clearly defined but be assured, there will be one for each bodybuilder!

Supplementation and Diet

Supplements and Diet are also important factors in basic bodybuilding. Supplements increase the body's capacity to grow muscles as well as add the nutrients necessary for the bodybuilder to grow muscles faster. See our Bodybuilders Diet page and BodyBuilders Supplement page.
