and fast twitch
if you try to train fast twitch muscle, would be running a mile out the cons jump training?
my son is trying to increase his vertical leap, he worked on the machine vertimax, but his high school coach insists he does his workout, which is: a race of a mile, followed by a 800m, 400m, 2×200 and 2×100, my question is this work against development of his fast-twitch muscle fibers?
Not really, the coach tries to develop his endurance, not its contraction Fast. The best way to develop or improve their vertical jump is weight lifting and plyometric exercises. Running middle intervals distance will not help her jump and if done too it will hurt his jump. I guess if it is 1 mile, then 1800, then 1400, they are used as a warm Rapid 200 and 100.
