Do You Feel Too Worn-out To Train?
You have had a long, taxing day at the office and you’re ready to head home and fall down in front of the TV. You promised yourself you’d do a short workout but feel too worn out to even think about it. Does this sound like a recurring condition? Two of the most common excuses people offer for not working out are lack of time and fatigue. After all, a lengthy day taking care of children or working at the office takes time and energy. Regrettably, you still need exercise for both fitness and relaxation. What can you do to stimulate yourself when you’re too exhausted to work out?
We all get there at times – too tired to even think about exercising. But you know you still need to. What do you do? Is is just lack of drive or is it a physical problem. Here are a few suggestions to help in both areas.
Have your iron levels checked
If you already work out and find you’re approaching your daily workout with excessive tiredness and lack of drive, see your physician and have your iron level checked. Your physician can do a blood test called a ferreting level which measures your body’s stores of iron. Aerobic training can trigger slow reduction of iron levels with iron being lost due to sweating and through seepage of minute amounts into the abdomen with repeated activities. Plus, it isn’t uncommon for women of child bearing age to be iron deficient. If your are iron deficient, iron supplementation might make all the difference in your energy levels and your outlook towards working out.
Work out when you get up in the morning
If you feel drained and less inclined to train in the evening, try getting up thirty minutes earlier and get your work out session done before your day gets started. An early morning exercise session can help to boost and motivate you for the remainder of the day. Plus, you can look forward to an evening of leisure knowing you’ve completed your objective. This can be a uncomplicated solution to the dilemma of being too exhausted to work out.
Do it in any case
Sometimes the best cure for tiredness is a brisk training session. Have you ever noticed how you can stagger into the health club pooped but following 30 minutes of activity you feel energized and revitalized? There’s nothing like exercise to get your blood flowing and zap fatigue. If it’s difficult for you to get motivated to make that journey to the club, guarantee yourself a small reward after you complete your session. Just make sure it is not a jelly donut!
Lighten your exercises
On evenings that your are too tired to exercise, follow a lighter, less difficult routine. To induce yourself to make the first step, tell yourself you will only exercise for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes have elapsed, chances are you will feel so re-energized that you will want to continue.
Modify your training system
If you feel drained with a lack of inspiration towards exercise on a specific evening, change your exercises entirely and replace with something fun. Instead of walking a half hour on the treadmill at the club, take your dog for a brisk walk or do thirty minutes of stretches as you watch your favorite T.V. show. You can switch back to your regular program the next time you exercise and the diversity will be good for you both physically and psychologically.
Give these instructions a try and soon you will no longer need the old excuse of being too drained to exercise. Plus, you will look and feel like a new person.
