Assisted suicide and the art of care

Assisted suicide and the art of care

Abstract:

In the era of managed care, rationing of care and care technology, it is the art of care. We live in a society that has been given to the different choices? self-determination? it? fate in dying that we could? self-determination? it? destiny in life itself. We have drugs and technological capabilities, and regions of the country that allows us to accelerate or defer a? dying. The purpose of this position paper is to describe the legal ramifications, ethical, religious and philosophical doctors involved in helping suicide (PAS) and how these decisions affect those who are indeed related to this issue.

Benefits for SAP are:

? People should have the right to die with dignity

? The people should have the right to die with their senses intact

? People should have the right to die without pain

? People should have the right to bear unnecessary care

The disadvantages of NOT are

? Effect slippery slope, or euthanasia acceptable and unacceptable

? No policy is able to govern effective scope of the right to die

? true desires are difficult to identify because of communication problems

? Playing God

I'm just giving an overview, not a detailed analysis on this issue. My intention is The art of care. The art of care will help people gain an inner strength that may enable it to cope with the external losses happening to their body. At the end of this paper, I hope to outline practical ways can help terminally ill patients cope with a dying body from one place Within those remaining He was Karl Barth who said that? It is for God and for God alone to make an end to human life? and that God gives life for us? loan inalienable.? (1) It is my belief that we give meaning and hope in all situations of life. This instinct to survive and find value in our entire existence which leads me to believe that there is much to learn in all phases of our lives. Our ability to trust our Creator? O divine guidance and a plan for us to do more soul than the body at the end of life is equally important an interior journey that we do not always make sense for us outside. As we do, we begin to follow overview. To see the inside which can not be seen from outside, it is our soul? s desire to be known and surface in our lives.

In Liberty, John Stuart Mill warned,? A person should be free to do what he wants in his own concerns, but should not be free to do as he likes to act for another under the pretext that the affairs of others are his own business. (2) The autonomy is so important for us that science, as well as communities religious endeavor to honor and respect. For autonomy within is the ability to discern one for himself one? s needs, values, and destiny. It is a movement in art care (science and religion) can work together to forge a healing response on the level of the soul when physical healing is possible.

On the other side of this issue, it is clear that Oregon? Death with Death with Dignity Act, its been very little used and a slippery slope does not seem to be at the forefront now.? In 2001, twenty-one from Oregon has chosen The number Clearly, there is no landslide in the making. (3)?

It seems that people still want to have some sort control in their death and autonomy remains widespread in the whole issue to the APS. The strong need to identify one? s way in the face of suffering gives us hope, faith and love in a sense of self is not easy to define more answers. Here, we begin where we find ourselves in that we have confidence in the wisdom of one who created us.

Meanings, Levels care, and care approaches:

There are three levels to discern in the act of euthanasia:

There are three levels to discern in the act of euthanasia:

1. The first is a patient who is comatose or brain dead. In these cases, the physician is asked to? Pull the plug? or remove the patient from mechanical life support. These cases are generally not disputed by the general public. It is a act of withdrawing or withholding necessary mechanisms used to support a life that can not be sustained. It is here that the recognition of it? personality is gone and the shell of a body is all that remains.

2. Another act of euthanasia involves the use of morphine in hospitalized patients in the painful final stages of his or her life with diseases such as cancer and AIDS.

3. The desire for information on SAP. This is the most controversial ongoing actions.

Passive euthanasia is the acceleration of a death by means of modifying some form of support and letting nature take its course. This may include removing life support equipment, stop CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation). The most common use of PAS is to give patients high doses of morphine to relieve pain. It is very likely that the pain will suppress respiration and cause death earlier than it would otherwise have happened. This also sooner than he would otherwise have happened. This is also done on patients who are in use means intentionally causing the death of a person by direct action. Dr. Jack Kevorkian, a doctor from Michigan made this famous in 1998 with a patient who had ALS (Lou Gehrig? S and deaths. Kevorkian was charged with 1st degree murder, but the jury found him guilty of 2nd degree murder in March 1999.

is use willful intent to cause the death of one person by direct action. Dr. Jack Kevorkian, a Michigan physician, made this well-known in 1998 with a patients who had ALS (Lou Gehrig? s Disease). Kevorkian was charged with 1st degree murder, but the jury found him guilty of 2nd degree murder in March 1999.

Physician-assisted ways of a dying patient with the intention of suicide.

Euthanasia is involuntary termination of a life without the patient clearly requested.

Euthanasia is involuntary termination of a life without a patient clearly demand.

? There are several reasons ways beyond the body. Others live in chronic pain because of the lack of coverage for health care or afford medicines. This Huntington? cons s disease, multiple sclerosis, AIDS, Alzheimer's disease? s, etc. are some of

Philosophical approaches:

When all is said and done, there are two philosophical approaches to suicide: Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274 circa EC) has condemned all suicide (assisted or not) because it goes against one? S natural desire to live, it harms other people, and life is a gift of God are two philosophies of issues in 2003. Suicide was a criminal act. Now it is no longer something that much weight. But assisted suicide does remain a crime in America

Ethical and religious considerations:

Some ill life. Due to physical and mental limitations, people who suffer have a much different view on life than healthy people. This view makes amended patients who lack access to adequate management of pain in the United States alone.

Many religious organizations believe that suffering can be used to purify us. The purification can be for the caregiver and patient. It is time to learn and to know how the body becoming soul in the transformation process associated with death and death. Christians believe that life is a gift from God and God does not send us experience can not manage. Islamic states in the Qur'an? year? Do not take life which Allah has made sacred otherwise than in the course of justice.? And? Since critical that the Jewish tradition speaks clearly. We believe that recognition of a right recognized by the Constitution to die for terminally ill is a statement clearly against the recognition and the sanctity of human life?.? (7)

It is obvious that the religious influence on a judge NOT such an act as going against one? s Creator, and as such, the need to pray and discern the direction of it? life and death should be in consultation of a clerical status of? own faith. To replace this influence would have an autonomous individual whose beliefs have made him what can be known religiously a d? transcendent being his belief in their creator (religiously) driving? The Supreme Court issued its decision on the case of New York and Washington, June 26, 1997. They found that the average American has no constitutional right to assisted suicide doctor. The vote was 9 to 0, a decision unusual, a unanimous decision. Thus, New York and Washington laws that prohibit these suicides are constitutional. On the other hand, the court implied that no constitutional obstacle that prevents a State from passing a law allowing assisted suicide. Oregon has done exactly that. Then, battle must be fought legality and the rights does not mean that certain choices are the right to choose, these cases occur in individual cases as well. Sometimes, futile care is just not working meaningless. These

Currently, 1996? July: the bill passes subcommittee of the House: A project law was adopted by the Constitution Subcommittee of the Judiciary Committee of the House of Representatives have requested is happy. She said,? Congress just sent a very strong bipartisan message to the appropriate role of the physician is able to help their patients, not by pushing a bridge? Doctors earlier in this document, it appears that more work by providing money and resources in the study and application suffering, science has to catch up with complementary medicine modalities. Thus, it is clear that science and religion has its strengths and pull each other. Neither, is the larger of the two, without losing what inspires people to care for those who need it most.

someone to commit suicide? this would be a crime.

Patients have many reasons for wanting to die:

? 79% cited discomfort other than pain

? 53% cited loss of dignity

? 52% cited fear of uncontrollable symptoms (10)

As you can see from this survey, there? Some? cases beyond the medical knowledge to care for people? pain adequately. This does not mean that SAP is the answer. It is an indicator of how further study is needed in the field of palliative care. adequate care to patients terminally ill is a priority, we must find the resources so that we can take care of others, at the end of life as we do at birth and up maturity.

Palliative Care Program: The Politics of Suicide:

Procedures:

1. If a patient intends to commit suicide, the staff does the following:

A. Encourage patients to talk about what brought him the child at this decision;

B. patient assessment of pain and suffering has increased, depression, suicidal tendencies, skills, impaired thinking, confusion, dementia, and manipulation by others.

C. Tell the patient that information should and decide a plan of care that can lead to further exploration on this issue by a psychiatrist, a nurse, psychiatrist or psychologist. An increase in supportive care would be launched.

G. Notify Doctor as necessary updates.

2. When Hospice patient asks staff to help them commit suicide, we proceed as follows:

A. reconfirm pt / family policy against the Hospice ? The Hippocratic Oath, which prohibits the killing by doctors, began in ancient Greece at the time of Socrates. It is often considered The March 26, 1998, the first known legal NOT happened in America. This case occurred in Oregon. The doctor gave a woman at the terminal people thought it was a good thing.

There are no easy conclusions to the SSP. There are many people who are pros and cons that are NOT. The debate has not been determined by the Government indicating that a democratic society must decide for himself the meaning of life and death, therefore, sending the issue in each State to determine the orientation of their citizens. One thing is clear: the United States America continues to defend the autonomy and individual rights of Americans to determine the course of his life. And it seems that the child will NOT see or know the growing autonomy is alive in us. This guiding force inspires us to love, let go, and embrace life again in all its transitions. As we grow, we realize that this is not experience of our lives that we give meaning and value: it is rather the expression within these experiences that give us life.

The expressions of life are the flow of life in motion with to us and not us so we can know the true meaning of autonomy. We can say that our self is our soul? C. Code the needs of patients care in a way I can? t help but wonder if physician-assisted suicide would be more of an option sparingly into consideration. advantage of their days. Hospice does not hasten or delay a? dying. We are a service that there is a saying in palliative care that we do not add days a? Life, but we add more life to one? S days. There is much to learn in life and our death. As a patient begins the soul and body, leaving Instead, a presence of awareness within us all.

This realization fills those caring for a dying patient with a sense of sacredness. It helps all of us involved in caring for a dying patient to embrace what can not be touched by human hands. In doing so, connect us to an awareness eternal in the other who has been with us throughout. It is the soul s? Desire to be known, blessed, cared for and loved. NOT cut this process at the end of life. And the dying have much to share with us during this process of dying in eternal life.

Over time, we connect deeply in the order of creation around us. It is not easy to let go. with care, love and support, a dying patient can not let go of the known world and open to the mysterious world known as the soul. It is a sacred place? not made by human hands. As such, through prayer, letting go and opening to the orientation of the interior, we find an inner spirit of us who took us into the world through it, and creative intelligence to lead us home. It is the center of creation and perhaps Alternative assisted suicide:

Having said the above conclusions, I want to continue my thoughts in what I mean by the art of care in treatment of people who are considering NOT. The reflections are the considerations and concerns. My wish is to offer an alternative approach to people and extend the discussions beyond the care of the body, and in the care of the soul. Because I have served for over 12 years in palliative care, you peace.

In pain, we are born. In varying degrees of pain, we leave this world. When we are in pain, we seek indicative. For this reason, the following are spiritual issues that I want to address is NOT.

NOT avoids the natural process of life that we call death. In the name of compassion, mercy NOT claims to promote. It is an attempt to restore a body? equilibrium state the midst of despair, we cry with hope? hope that support us in our pain, to guide us deeper in and through our suffering, we remember our central objective, create the sacred? s However, I can t help? But believe SAP has evolved from a alternative to the faith rather than being inspired by faith in a power greater than ourselves. If you think about it, our lives are genetic models

NOT address outcomes of care to relieve physical pain, but the effects of this increased care of doubts and questions and a lack of resolution spiritual. NOT undermines contemplation, character, and faith to the end of life. This does not mean that some cases may require intervention such as scientific terminal sedation to alleviate the burden of pain. I just want to say that I and the ability to act on our character as the soul reveals in our death. As the body and mind? s bland expressions to die, our loved ones die lead us to take care of them in a gentle awareness beyond these external expressions? their minds. It is here that souls come together to create invisible links that we will never forget.

NOT cutting spiritual reflection at the end of life. SAP claims to offer comfort and care for the mind and body. However, we are more than wonder about the holistic nature of the scoring system.

PAS is not only a moral and legal debate. NOT prevent us from discovering life until death. Often our spirit encourages us to remain engaged in life where no apparent hope can be found. NOT interrupt this flow natural. It is usually based on fear of pain and being a burden to others. The focus at this point on the escape. Instead of

We are not guaranteed a life free of suffering, but we can be freed from our suffering. This hope can be found in a pill. This hope is much deeper. If we choose NOT, we cut this hope we showed at birth. It is the eternal dance of the spirit manifested in the cycles of life. Here we are reminded that life must continue, whatever the transformations in the physical reality occur. In the deeper part us, it is vital to be engaged in life than to withdraw. Otherwise, nobody would have learned to crawl or walk at all after birth. more with your body. You say that no matter what happens to my body, I'll do on this bike and ride it. It is like magic in that moment because you have this time and roll around. It so.

PAS is a choice between control and surrender. Mind and the body deteriorates from their attention inwards. In a sense, dying patients are connections with their inner life. This is the private part of us, we shared with anticipation of the future destiny, and to our present consciousness.

It takes courage, faith and hope to face every day. This are spiritual qualities that describes the inner life of a soul. We must be committed to them and make the most of any What a challenge. Behind these qualities are powers greater than us. They do not contain energy that restores a dying patient? body (although it should always take place here, we spend our perceptions and emotions surrounding the transition from life experience to another, what gives our body and spirit in our Creator? S. Currently, a person is honored with the feeling of being loved that supports a person? dying. Their spirit will be an anchor, a reason, and a focal point filled with vitality and confidence. It is led by the spirit of our Creator. It is an energy spiritual maturity to prepare the soul for a journey that will never die. Suggestions for art care to relieve suffering in the terminally ill patient:

Suggestions for the art care to relieve suffering in the terminally ill patient dying to tell you their story.

Let you learn something from a dying patient.

Provide advice very soon.

Remember, he is a patient? s death – not ours.

These suggestions are very few simple ideas on the art of care and the way each of us will have to travel through life and especially at the end. When these suggestions we can not drive, but they realized that each of us engage in our greatest potential garde. As we listen carefully with a heart open to our dying loved one, this union of shared pain, shared joy may be just enough to encourage a dying loved one to live fully, because they can souls can not embrace. And for me, is the deeper level of suffering and care should be without. And when it fully lives from birth to death Websites and books on the PAS:
